Welcome to SD Pen Club
SD Pen Club is a new home for San Diego people who love writing by hand. Fountain pens, bottled ink, good paper, and the kind of conversation that starts when someone slides a pen across the table and says, try this one.
We are just getting started. Right now that means pens, ink and paper on Instagram every day. Next it means casual meetups around San Diego where anyone can show up, test a few nibs, and go home with a new favorite ink.
You do not need an expensive pen, a big collection, or beautiful handwriting. You just need to be curious.
Every great collection started with one pen.

New to Fountain Pens?
Most of us started with an inexpensive pen and a long list of questions. Which nib size should I get? Why does this ink look different on this paper? Is it normal for my fingers to be blue?
Bring the questions. Someone in the club has already made that mistake and will happily tell you how to skip it.

Do I need to own a fountain pen?
No. Come curious. There are always extra pens on the table to try, and we are happy to point you toward a good first pen that will not cost much.
Does it cost anything?
No. SD Pen Club is free to follow and free to join.
Where do you meet?
We meet the 3rd Saturday of every month. Locations rotate around San Diego and are announced by email and on Instagram. Sign up above and you will hear about the next one first.
Is this the same as the San Diego Pen Club?
No. The San Diego Pen Club (@sandiegopenclub) is a separate, longer running group, and we think you should say hello to them too. The more people writing by hand in this city, the better.
